courses are taught by Dave Jackson
of Wildwood Coppice Crafts.
Dave began teaching in 2000,
beginning with 5 years of teaching green wood crafts to
disadvantaged school children prior to running his own adult courses.
As well as teaching his own courses, he runs courses for
other organisations from time to time, such as Acton Scott Historic Working Farm in Shropshire, The Weald
and Downland Open Air Museum in West Sussex, The Wye Valley
AONB, and the Womens Institute amongst others. Dave
established Wildwood Coppice Crafts in 1999 whilst doing
voluntary work with BTCV in Worcester. In 2005 he founded
the Malvern Hills Coppice Network, and in 2013 became a
director of the newly formed National Coppice Federation. He
won the Log to Leg World Championship in 2012, a rather
obscure competition of the Association of Pole Lathe
Additional friendly and skilled facilitators will be brought
in to assist in the running of some courses.
The Wildwood Workshop…..
most of the courses are held in a purpose made covered craft
workshop near Malvern, Worcestershire. The workshop lies
within beautiful rural countryside, is well equipped, with
space to work, rest and play! We have a lounge area next to
the stream, a compost toilet and space for camping if
required. It is a tranquil and relaxing space in which to
spend a day or a few.
Malvern Cube is a versatile affordable community space with
a small independent café, The Cake Tin, at its heart,
offering access to a varied and exciting programme of
activities and events. The centre was saved for the whole
community to serve the diverse population of Malvern and to
be welcoming to all. Malvern Cube is now running a series of
Coppicing courses will be held at Park Wood.
