Living Willow
Garden
Structures
Living
willow structures provide an attractive alternative to using
timber for a variety of garden features. Once the willow is
planted, luscious new growth will begin to appear in the
spring, transforming the appearance of the structure. Once
the leaves have fallen in autumn, the willow is pruned back
to the original architectural framework.

Planting - must be
carried out during the winter month, from November to March,
using freshly cut willow rods to ensure that they have enough
life force in them to enable them to produce roots once planted.
They are usually planted by making a thin hole with a steel rod
and then pushing the willow rod into the hole ensuring it is a
snug fit. The willow must be planted to a depth of 12 to 18
inches to ensure there will be enough ground water in dry
periods to allow root growth. |
