Wattle Hazel Hurdles
made to size, to order

Our hurdles are made from coppiced hazel from the Malvern Hills area. Once the hazel has been cut, the stool (or stump) is allowed to re-grow for 7 to 9 years. After such time the hazel is ready for harvesting again. This continuous cycle of cutting and natural regeneration means that the hurdle is a truly sustainable product.

Hazel is a very versatile material and we can use it in a wide array of ways....

  • Hurdle fencing panels

  • Framed hurdle panels - to fit between existing or new fence posts

  • Archways

  • In-situ hazel hurdles  - on top of walls or around curved borders

  • Wattle hazel trellis

  • Screens - to hide oil tanks and compost bins

  • Wind breaks

  • Block up gaps in hedges

  • Border edging - around veg plots and borders

  • Gates - with hazel in-filled panels

Courses

We offer a 2 day course in 'Wattle Hurdle Making'

We also run a course on 'Introduction to Coppice Crafts'

If you are interested in learning how to use hazel there are many useful courses on offer.

Please see the courses page for further details

We need quality hazel rods for our hurdle work, and these are in short supply. This is one reason why we are investing so much effort to restore the hazel coppice in Park Wood
